I consider myself a very active person. Being physically active gives me energy, positive thoughts and makes me feel good. Whether it’s working out, walking the dogs, mowing the lawn, or doing a million other things in and around the house, I love being active.

Occasionally, however, even I have to take it easy and slow down. As I get older, lower back pain sometimes stops me in my track. And since I’m not a fan of taking medications to relieve my pain, I was excited to try and review the Aleve Direct Therapy TENS Device (use this device as directed).

I have to admit , though, I was skeptical at first. What can this small device possibly do? I gave it a try and have to say I’m very impressed.
Just recently, I worked at a huge event in Nashville where I was required to stand for seven hours. Needless to say, my back was stiff and achy afterwards. I applied the Aleve Direct Therapy Device on my lower back and I immediately started to feel the stimulating pulses. It felt like little tingly pulses massaging my back. I remember getting a similar treatment at my doctor’s office during my teen gymnastics years.

Here’s how this device works. Aleve Direct Therapy uses TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), a therapy that uses electrical stimulation to relieve pain. Basically, there are two clinical theories of how TENS can relieve pain: by blocking the transmission of pain, and by stimulating endorphins, the body’s natural pain-reducing chemicals.

TENS from Aleve was simple to set up and use. Everything I needed came in the box, including a screwdriver that was needed to install the batteries. It is sleek, light weight, and comfortable to wear.

The directions were very clear and easy to follow. I inserted the batteries and applied the gel pads. I then applied the Aleve Direct Therapy unit to my lower back and started the treatment. The device is adjustable for the level that feels best and the wireless remote makes it simple to adjust. After about 10 minutes I used the remote to turn it up one level. Around the 20-minute mark, I turned it up one level again, and a couple minutes in, I was feeling pretty good.

The sleek design plus wireless remote control allows it to be worn discreetly throughout the day for 30 minute treatments as needed (waiting 30 minutes between treatment sessions recommended).
Aleve Direct Therapy has been available since July 2016 and can be found at major stores in the pain relief aisle near other topical pain relief products. It is also available at online retailers.
I will definitely be using this product on a regular basis and would recommend it to anyone with an aching lower back. Aleve Direct Therapy TENS Device can provide temporary relief of pain associated with sore and aching muscles in the lower back due to strain from exercise or normal household and work activities.
I’ve used the unit for several days now and my back feels great. I can go back to working out, mowing, painting, etc. I can go back to what I love most…being active.
