Today’s post is for those who love to simplify. The older I get, the more I crave a minimalist home. I want it simple, practical and clutter-free.

A few months back, I bought a new mattress and smart base for my teenage son.  I also gave him my faux leather headboard. The headboard had a more masculine feel, which complimented his new bed and bedding. This left me without one so I decided to DIY a tufted headboard. The more I thought about it, the more I leaned toward a simple plywood headboard.

I saw a few on Pinterest, and most of them were from European homes.  It’s true, most Europeans are used to smaller homes, cars, simple furniture, simple home decor, etc.

I went to Lowe’s to pick a quality 3/4 inch plywood. It was around $20, and a friendly man cut it for me to my desired size. At home, I sanded the rough edges. With the scrap plywood, I built a simple nightstand. So easy.

This look may not be for everyone, but it suites me. I like the simple, clean look; the price, and easy “build”. If I get bored with it, I’ll add some padding, wrap it in fabric and call it a day.

Have a wonderful week!
