Our house looked so pretty with snow.
This is eight inches of snow. I measured with a ruler.
We kept warm with oatmeal and homemade fries. I also made muffins and apple crisp… and of course, hot chocolate.
Our deck. I was afraid it would collapse, so I shoveled for an hour. The most strenuous workout ever!
Snowman #1. The snow was much too powdery, so he looks sort of creepy.
Snowman #2 turned out much better.
This was the first time Danny had seen this much snow. I am glad he got to experience it.
Billy doesn’t like the snow. Poor little guy had a hard time doing his business. He literally disappeared in the snow. Snow just isn’t his thing.
Our street. Snowpocalypse? We were stuck for three days. Everything in Nashville shut down.
It snowed all day long.
Last week, we had the most snow I had seen since I was a kid living in Germany. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I woke up. The entire city of Nashville was covered in a huge white blanket. Our house was so bright from all the whiteness it almost hurt my eyes.
Seeing this much snow immediately brought back memories of my childhood. Where I come from, snow days don’t exist. People just deal with it. (Nashville is on snow day #6 btw).
I remember walking to school early in the morning when it was still dark. It was a good 15-minute walk. The sides of the roads had about 2 or 3 feet of snow. All the kids looked like Randy from A Christmas Story… “I can’t get up, I can’t get up..” Haha. Once we got to school we had to take off our snow gear including our boots. You can imagine how long it took us to do so. This happened when I was 6 or 7 years old. We let everything dry and changed into slippers. It’s a true story.
Anyways, seeing this much snow again after all these years made me emotional. Maybe because I associate snow with carefree days as a child. You are outside for hours – not a care in the world – when you get back inside, mom has a warm meal and hot chocolate ready for you. Best day ever!
On one of my walks a neighbor told me this was the most snow Nashville had seen since 1966. I’m glad I was here when it snowed. I had the best time in the snow. My son and I went on lots of walks and built two snowmen. We even had a mini snowball fight. I love it when kids have so much fun doing simple things.
Clothes-wise we weren’t prepared for this snow storm. I wish we would have had better boots, snow pants, beanies, socks… pretty much everything. My son ended up wearing one of my winter jackets. I swear the kid grows an inch a month.
Sadly, rain is in the forecast so this might be the end of the snow. I am kind of sad to see it go. Who knows if I’ll ever get the chance to see so much snow again. Let’s hope…Fingers crossed!
